1987 Model
The F40 was announced at a press conference in July 1987 by Enzo Ferrari, the founder of Ferrari,as the most extream road car in the history of Ferrari.
Following in Ferrari's tradition Enzo Ferrari proposed to once again make a car that was not just a great road car but one that could also be entered in a race without any additional modification. In response to this proposal Ferrari created the F40 using the 288 GTO mechanism as a base starting point.
